Start with the workflow, then choose the connection
A connection can be easy to describe and still be unclear to build. “Send orders to our system” leaves questions about which orders, which fields, when they should arrive, and what should happen if the receiving system is unavailable.
I help make that workflow explicit before implementation. The aim is a connection your team can understand: what moves, what starts it, which system owns each value, and how someone can tell whether it worked.
Where an integration may help
- Move a validated website inquiry into the next step of your team's workflow.
- Connect WordPress or WooCommerce to a CRM or another business system.
- Build a custom API endpoint or adapt an existing API for a defined use case.
- Investigate missing updates, inconsistent records or a connection that needs frequent manual intervention.
- Replace a repetitive handoff with an agreed automated process and a way to review exceptions.
Define the difficult cases before they reach your team
An integration brief should cover more than a successful request. I would work through examples such as a missing required field, an existing record, a later correction and a temporary service failure. Those examples help decide what the integration should retry, leave alone or flag for someone to review.
The implementation can then be checked against those decisions using suitable test data and service access. The exact approach depends on the APIs and account permissions available; a platform's limits can be part of the scope rather than a surprise at handover.
My backend experience includes building REST APIs connecting AdviserLogic, Midwinter and Xplan at Elemnta, alongside AWS infrastructure work. My WordPress experience also includes Zoho integration. These are the published experience behind this service.
What to send with your inquiry
Name the two systems, describe the manual step you want to change, and give a simple example of the information involved. Links to public API documentation are useful. Do not include API secrets or customer records in the initial message.
Questions before getting started
Should we use an existing plugin or a custom integration?
An existing integration may cover the requirement well. Custom work is worth discussing when its field mapping, behavior or failure handling does not fit your workflow. I would compare those needs before recommending a build.
Can every tool be connected?
It depends on the access each tool provides, its API features, account permissions and usage limits. Those need to be checked before committing to a particular workflow.
Can you investigate an integration we already use?
Yes. A useful starting point is a specific record or event that failed, its expected destination and any available error or delivery log. Share a description first so sensitive data can be handled through an appropriate channel.
