Fit the work into the site you already have
WordPress projects rarely start from an empty folder. There is a theme, a set of plugins, content that editors maintain, and a process for getting changes approved. Understanding those parts matters as much as writing the new feature.
I work with PHP, responsive interfaces and custom integrations, alongside React and Next.js where the project calls for them. The choice starts with what the website and the people maintaining it need.
Useful pieces of support
- Build or adjust a page component while keeping it consistent with the site's existing design.
- Trace an issue in a theme, plugin or custom feature and document how to reproduce it.
- Connect forms, content or business workflows to another system.
- Improve a custom WordPress feature that has become difficult to use or maintain.
- Work through a defined development backlog with an agency's designer, developer or QA team.
Make review part of the delivery
For an agency project, I would agree on the brief, the review owner and the acceptance checks before implementation. That helps avoid a feature being technically finished while a design or content decision is still open.
For an existing business site, I would first understand the affected feature and how it is used. Work can be prepared in a suitable development or staging environment, then reviewed with a clear explanation of what changed.
A useful handover gives your team a way to check the result and maintain it later. It should distinguish completed work from anything that still needs content, access or a third-party decision.
Experience across implementation and coordination
My published experience includes freelance WordPress development and a lead engineering role on a WordPress retail application at Advice Revolution. That role included working with developers and QA engineers through major deployments, performance work, Zoho integration and custom multi-factor authentication.
If your team has an established process, include a short outline when you get in touch. We can discuss a piece of work that fits it.
Questions before getting started
Can you work with our existing developer or agency?
Yes. Share the part you need help with and how your team handles designs, code review and testing. Responsibilities and communication can be agreed as part of the scope.
Do we need a new theme?
That depends on the problem. I would look at the current site before recommending a theme change. Many requests can be addressed within an existing setup.
Can you quote from a short brief?
A short brief is a good starting point. The URL, required behavior, relevant designs and any deadline constraints help identify what needs to be clarified before a scope and estimate can be agreed.
